I received a fabulous package from L’Oreal recently and the Garnier Simply Essentials 2 in 1 make-up remover was one of the products in it.
As much as I love make-up, I can’t wait to take off when I get home after a long day so I was happy to try it.
It contains plant extract and pro-vitamin B5 in a 2 in 1 formula which combines make-up removing oil (the blue liquid) with the freshness of a cleansing water (the clear liquid).
It’s simple to use. Shake the bottle to mix the two liquids, then soak a cotton wool pad with the mixture and wipe gently over face, eyes and neck to remove make-up.
There is no perfume or alcohol in the formula making it suitable for sensitive skin. It feels cooling and gentle when applied – almost like water. I have normal skin most of the time but I am careful about what products I use as certain brands don’t agree with me. This didn’t irritate my skin at all though.
However, it did leave a very slight film on my skin which felt uncomfortable at first but it didn’t last long. The extra moisture might suit dry skins but I’m not sure how oily skins would manage.
Apart from the film, my skin felt soft, supple and perfectly cleansed. I loved that I didn’t have to rub at my skin, a quick swipe and make-up disappeared.
I found it most effective on my eyes. I wear eyeliner and 2-3 coats of mascara most days so I find that no matter how well I cleanse, I’m still left with panda eyes. Not anymore. A sweep of this and all traces are vanished.
While I wouldn’t use this as my sole make-up remover, I’d use it after my usual cleanser to target areas where I’ve missed.
I’d highly recommend this as eye make-up remover, don’t bother using anything else!
