Sienna X tan review

The first time I tried Sienna X tan was at a salon a few years ago. I had a spray tan for a wedding which looked super natural and lasted really well. It wasn’t until a few months ago that I discovered Sienna X was available to buy in stores so I was pleased to be sent a few products from their range.

Sunless tan be mine!

To prep my skin, I used the Sienna X Polishing Body Scrub. The scent is pleasant. I couldn’t detect lemongrass or ginger but it had a refreshing ‘spa-like’ smell to it. The texture is creamy and lightweight and it contains fine pumice for gentle yet effective exfoliation. Although it felt exfoliating, this was a little too gentle for me. I prefer a grainer scrub. My skin felt smooth after using though, especially with the help of exfoliating gloves on drier areas like my knees and elbows.

I applied the tan using the Sienna X Luxury Self Tan Mitt, which I fell in love with! It’s made from velvet and feels so nice to use. It’s a really thick mitt meaning there’s no chance of tan soaking through to your hands (very annoying!) and as it’s black, there’s no ugly brown stains all over it afterwards. YES!

I tend to steer clear of dark tans because I have a light skin tone and any self-tan darker than a light or medium shade scares me. I just hate the thought of looking radioactive for a week. However, I decided to give the Sienna X Dark Glowing Self Tan a go anyway. And I’m really glad I did – it’s one of the best tans I’ve ever used. In fact, I don’t know if I can go back to any other tans now.

The scent was INCREDIBLE. Zingy and fresh like pineapple and coconuts. I thought St Tropez had a nice smell but this beats it by far! I’ve never come across a tan that smells so delicious! The consistency is also lovely. It’s creamy, not too thick and easy-to-spread with a rich chocolate colour.

The guide colour gives an instant bronzed look which looks completely natural. If you’re pushed for time, you could easily go out after applying providing you’re careful not to get caught in the rain, spill anything on yourself etc. What’s more, it didn’t streak and I looked like that I had had a professional spray tan by the time I’d finished applying!

The formula is anti-cellulite and contains green tea and calendula to help prevent premature ageing. I don’t have cellulite so I can’t comment on that but I like that it contains ingredients to help smooth and tone skin – all cool extra features!

After about 8 hours sleep, I showered off the tan in the morning. I hate doing this as I feel like I’m rinsing most of the colour off. I expected the water to run orangey as I rinsed but it was actually pretty clear.

The lighting wasn’t too good here but hopefully, you can see a natural looking glow!

The overall result was excellent. It was golden and healthy-looking! I thought the colour would be much darker but I was pleased with the way it turned out anyway. I’d happily use the tan again and again. I would have liked the bottle to have a pump top for easier distribution but apart from that minor disadvantage, it’s absolutely perfect!

Has anyone tried Sienna X? I’ve got my eye on the Radiance Balm so if anyone has tried that, do let me know what it’s like!

I’ve never used fake tan as like you I am fair skinned and have been a wee bit scared. Having read this though, I may be brave enough to give it a go! Thanks for sharing.

I was pleasantly surprised with the colour result Claire. I’d definitely recommend – even for pale skin!
