Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve had an unplanned break from my blog. I’ve still been working on the admin side of things – working with brands, responding to emails, going to press days and meetings but writing posts has taken a backseat. So, in an attempt to get back into the swing of writing, I’ve been thinking of things that I love about blogging.
1. Creating content
Creating your own content is the beauty of blogging. You’re in control of everything, from designing to writing to photography. I’m constantly thinking of ways to improve whether it’s updating my design, styling my images differently or changing ways of writing. My blog has improved so much since I started out and I’m thankful that it keeps getting better!
2. Being given opportunities
When I was younger, I wanted work for magazines. However, as I got older and more experienced, I realised that blogging gave me the same opportunities and I could be my own boss. I go to press days, events, launches, previews and work with some incredible PR agencies and brands. Plus, I get to write whatever I want, when I want and not feel limited.
3. The people
I’ve met so many lovely people from blogging – through social media, events and the industry in general. Not only is the blogging community friendly, kind and welcoming, it’s also a great place to find people who you have things in common with! It’s also nice to be surrounded by supportive, like-minded people.
4. Getting the chance to try the latest products
I’d be lying if I said that I didn’t like having products gifted to me by fashion, beauty and lifestyle brands. It’s one of the many perks of blogging. I don’t see them as “freebies” though as I have to test them, take photos and write about them, which takes a lot of time and effort. However, it’s an enjoyable process and I appreciate what’s sent to me.
