I’ve always been an early riser but with the change in seasons, it can be a challenge to feel energised in the mornings. Especially as it’s so dark and feels like you’re waking up in the middle of the night!
Fortunately, I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve for setting yourself up for the day ahead. They work for me and hopefully they’ll work for you too.
Eat breakfast
Breakfast is my favourite part of day and I never skip it. If I don’t eat in the mornings, I feel miserable until lunchtime and it’s just not worth it.
Waking up early allows me time to eat a good breakfast and give myself a head start. I’ve really got into Belvita biscuits with some natural yoghurt and fresh fruit as it’s quick, easy and nutritious.
Belvita are the only breakfast biscuits with slow release carbohydrates over 4 hours so they should see you through your commutes and mid-morning meetings.
They’re also made with wholegrain and are a source of fibre, vitamin E, vitamin B1, magnesium and iron. Plus, they’re rich in cereals and have no colours or preservatives.
Do something you enjoy
While I’m eating my breakfast, I take the opportunity to do something I enjoy before I start my daily grind.
For example, I watch a quick episode of a TV programme on Netflix (usually a comedy to put me in high spirits), catch up on my favourite YouTubers, paint my nails or flick through a magazine. Vogue keeps me occupied me for ages because there’s so much to look at!
By doing something I enjoy first thing in the morning, it makes me feel positive before the day has even begun. I see it as ‘me’ time, which is important for making me feel sane as I lead a busy lifestyle.
Work up a sweat
I highly recommend working out in the mornings. I know it’s easier said than done but the benefits are worth it.
Firstly, the gym is quieter than the evening and therefore less stressful. There are less distractions because there are less people and there’s no need to wait around to use a machine. Nothing annoys me more when all the treadmills are taken!
Secondly, there’s no excuse to miss a morning session whereas there are loads of excuses to miss an evening one (tired after work/don’t want to get home late/have other plans). And once the workout is done, I feel so invigorated.
After working out, I like to jump in a hot shower. Time to cleanse, exfoliate and moisturise!
For a convenient and tasty Good Morning, Belvita breakfast biscuits are available at all major supermarkets. This is a sponsored post but as ever, my opinions are honest and unbiased.
