I’ve been trying to get in the festive spirit as much as possible this year so I thought I’d make a list of things I look forward to at Christmas. Can you believe it’s only four days away?!
1. Spending time with loved ones
Without a doubt, my favourite thing about Christmas is spending time with my family and friends. I see my parents all the time but it’s still nice to spend quality time with them over the festive season. It’s also lovely to catch up with friends who I don’t see very often throughout the year.
2. Food
My second favourite thing about Christmas is the food. Turkey with all the trimmings, homemade mince pies, roulades, cranberry-anything, canapés, panettone, every type of cheese and biscuits – I love it all! And even though I’m not a chocolate lover, it would be rude not to have a Ferrero Rocher or two!
3. Chilling out
Admittedly, I’m terrible at relaxing but there’s something about Christmas that does make me switch off a little. Since most people are taking it easy themselves, I don’t feel the need to run myself into the ground. Christmas is the perfect opportunity to rest and recharge for the year ahead.
4. Festive fun
Phil and I never need an excuse to enjoy ourselves and Christmas is no exception. We organise weekends away, go to concerts, visit our favourite restaurants, plan shopping trips, see movies and have as much fun as possible. And we justify it all by saying, “Oh well, it’s Christmas”. It suits us!
5. Shopping
So many people hate Christmas shopping but I actually don’t mind it. If you’re organised and know what you want, it can be quite enjoyable. Especially if you beat the crowds and get it done early on! I also don’t mind wrapping either, is that weird?
6. The scents
As much as I love the fresh and floral scents of summer, I cannot get enough of pine, cinnamon, spiced orange and gingerbread scents at Christmas. They’re so warm, homely and comforting, especially after a long day out in the cold. Bliss!
What do you look forward to at Christmas?
