Why I will always love the “natural” look

First of all, this post is not a dig at those who don’t like the “natural” look. I know there are plenty of people out there who are obsessed with false eyelashes, feel naked unless they have a full head of hair extensions and can’t be without their long, acrylic nails.

Less is more…on me anyway!

This a post on my personal preference when it comes to my appearance. I’m all for the “natural” look. And when I mean “natural”, I don’t mean going barefaced, not doing anything to my hair and sporting plain nails. I mean dolling myself up but not too much.

I don’t want to look like a completely different person, I just want to enhance what I already have. A dab of concealer, some heated rollers and a slick of nail colour can make such a difference. And I still look like me afterwards. Just a bit brighter, bouncier and more groomed.

Now there’s nothing wrong with wanting to look completely different. Do what you want with your appearance. As long as you’re happy with how you look, don’t give a damn about what anyone else thinks. However, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to look like you either.

There have been times where I’ve debated the “false” look. I see girls wearing heavy make-up with huge lashes, a head of extensions and coffin-shaped nails long enough to kill. And they look stunning. But it suits them. Whereas I suit the “natural” look down to the ground.

Heavy make-up just doesn’t work on me. Neither does over styled hair or acrylic nails. For me, looking natural is timeless. Beauty trends come and go but the natural look always stays put. It’s easy to achieve, suits any occasion and always looks good. And that’s why I’ll always love it.

What are your thoughts on the “natural” look?
