As far as colours go, I rarely wear yellow. When I was blonde, I avoided it like the plague because it clashed with my hair too much. But since I’ve been brunette, I’ve slowly introduced it into my wardrobe. A clutch bag here, a t-shirt there. Nothing too full on.
Apart from now! I saw this dress by PrettyLittleThing and thought, yes why not! It’s bright, tight and something I wouldn’t have typically gone for. But as I’ve said before, life’s too short not to experiment when it comes to style. You never know unless you try!
Sunshine vibes
Since the dress is a bodycon fit and short in length, I’d probably wear it on a night out rather than any other occasion. It’s very much a party dress! Perfect for cocktails (or mocktails for me!) in the with the girls. Bring on the summer evenings!
Apart from the colour, I liked the asymmetric cut of the dress as well as the sheer lace. They’re fun details which make the dress stand out even more. It’s definitely a dress to be noticed and not one for the shy and retiring types! You can see it a mile off!
Feeling tropical
Since the dress is quite fussy, I’ve chosen plain black heels to keep the look in proportion. It doesn’t really need jewellery either, I’m just wearing a small bracelet and simple rings here. I also made sure that I had a decent tan in case the yellow made me look washed out.
Overall, this dress has given me confidence to wear yellow more often but it’s probably not my favourite colour. It can be tricky to pull off and I’ve definitely got to be in the mood to wear it! However, it’s great for brightening up my day now and again. Just call me Little Miss Sunshine!
What do you think of the colour?
That yellow suits you so much!
