Life lessons: what I’ve learned about people in 2017

Year after year, I learn a lot about people. However, 2017 has been a particular eye-opener. One of the main things I’ve realised is that not everyone has the same heart as you.

It’s been a disappointing lesson to learn as I’ve always been thoughtful and considerate towards others. I’m the sort of person who puts herself in other people’s shoes and really feels for them. I’m compassionate and empathetic to the core. In fact, I worry more about other people than myself.

But as I said, not everyone has the same heart as you. And not everyone appreciates what you do or have done for them. It’s unfortunate but the sooner you get your head around this lesson, the better your life will be. Don’t expect to get what you give.

Instead, focus on the people who make the effort. The people in your life who always have time for you, whether you’re happy, sad or something in-between. The people who care about you, listen to you, support you and pick you up when you’re down. Because those people are worth their weight in gold.

Time doesn’t mean anything either. Friendship isn’t about who you’ve known the longest. It’s about who comes into your life and sticks by you no matter what you’re going through.

I feel like this post is a bit of a serious one but it’s something that’s been on my mind for a while. I like sharing words of wisdom on my blog as well as cute outfits! If I could help someone learn what I’ve learned over the past few months, then I’ll be pleased.

The bottom line is: no matter how good you are to someone doesn’t mean they’ll treat you in the same way. And no matter how much they mean to you, doesn’t mean they’ll value you the same. Something to bear in mind.

Take care everyone!
