Making the most of the winter

I’ve never been a fan of winter but this year, I’m trying to make the most of it rather than wish the time away. After all, summer isn’t coming any time soon! Sniff.

Making the most of winter

I know lots of people love this time of year because it means cosy nights in, counting down to Christmas and slobbing out in front of the TV but I hate the whole hibernation thing. I just feel lazy and bored. But that’s just me. I like to constantly be doing something! It’s both a strength and weakness of mine.

Instead of wishing the months away, I’ve decided to keep as busy as I can. I’ve kept up the gym routine and am going 3-4 times a week.  Sometimes it’s the last thing I feel like doing after a long day at work, but I push myself to go anyway and I feel much better afterwards. I see it as a chance to unwind.

I also go to college one evening a week, which I look forward to because I’m doing something more practical than academic. In other words, I don’t have to worry about assignments and essays! I go straight after work for three hours which can be draining but it’ll be worth it when I’m qualified. At least I’ve achieved something over the winter!

Another thing I’ve been doing to ward off the winter blues is saying yes to as many plans as possible. It’s easy to say no and make excuses when the weather is miserable and Christmas is coming but coffee catch-ups, dinner dates, cinema trips and the odd night out certainly won’t do any harm. I won’t remember all my nights in but I will remember going out and spending time with people.

Does anyone else feel the same about winter as me?
