I have a love/hate relationship with motivational quotes. I love them because they inspire me when I need it but I also hate them as they can be a bit OTT and cringy sometimes. However, I know that they do help lots of people, including myself.
The other day I saw a quote which was definitely more inspirational than cheesy. It was: “You get in life what you have the courage to ask for.” I’m not 100% sure but I believe Oprah Winfrey said it. This quote really resonated with me as it’s something I truly believe in. If you want anything in life, you have to go out and get it.
Push yourself
One of the best things anyone has ever said to me is that I have guts. I’m not afraid to push myself and give things a go. After all, you never know unless you try. But I completely understand that it can be scary to even try in the first place. My advice? Do it anyway. As clichéd as it sounds, I’d rather think “oh well” rather than “what if?”.
I guess this blog post is a reminder to myself and anyone reading. To keep pushing. To keep moving forward. To have courage. As you get older, life gets more complicated. There will be more excuses not to do certain things. And it gets easier not to push yourself. Bad habits get in the way. You get comfortable. You get settled.
If you’re happy as you are, then fine. Keep sailing along smoothly. But if you want something, keep pushing yourself. Because you absolutely can get there. Even if you make the smallest steps in the right direction, it’s better than no steps at all. Remember; if you don’t ask, you don’t get. Have courage, ladies and gentlemen!
