Thank you 2018; The things I’m grateful for this year

Christmas means a lot of different things for different people. Love, hope, happiness, family, goodwill. You get the idea. For me, Christmas also means gratitude. As the year comes to an end, I think about the things I’m grateful for whether they’ve been good or bad.

This year has been a big lesson. It’s taught me how incredible my parents are, (I knew that anyway but my goodness, they really are wonderful humans), that ‘friends’ can break your heart and that no matter how you feel, KEEP GOING.

But I’m not here to dwell on the past, I’m here to appreciate the present. Even though I get caught up in the “what if’s” and worry, I’m extremely grateful for many things in life.

Living life with gratitude

As I mentioned, I’m grateful for my lovely parents. I’m grateful how kind, generous and selfless they are. I’m grateful for Luis and the fun that we have together. I’m grateful for my car, that I can put money into savings, for my blog and the opportunities it’s given me, for exercise and nice colleagues. The list goes on!

Once you start being grateful, it honestly changes your perspective. It’s easy to forget the positives and focus on the negatives. Sometimes I get stressed and worry over things I can’t control.

Before writing this post, I was feeling overwhelmed by Christmas. I’m excited about it but equally, the build up gets too much. Suddenly my already busy life, has got even busier and I feel on edge about it.

But I try and take a step back and start thinking of the things I’m grateful for. Even if they’re little, like having breakfast at home before going to work or a long soak in the bath at night. It really helps me calm down!
