Benefit Cosmetics Roller Lash mascara gift

An exciting surprise parcel arrived a few days ago from the team at Benefit Cosmetics. I received a hot pink vanity case which contained a personalised eye mask (with my name spelled correctly and not Georgina – thank you Benebabes!), a cute heart shaped mirror and a full-size pot of It’s Potent eye cream. There was also a copy of this month’s ELLE magazine with a sample of Benefit’s Roller Lash mascara, which will be launched in March.

Spoilt with pink goodies!

Roller Lash is designed to be  a super curling and lifting mascara. The “hook ‘n’ roll” brush grabs, separates, lifts and curls while the instant curve-setting formula holds for 12 hours. It also contains pro vitamin B5 and serin which are known for their lash-conditioning benefits.

I’m a fan of Benefit’s other mascara offerings BADgal and They’re Real! so I was really looking forward to putting Roller Lash to the test.

My verdict? Roller Lash is easy to apply and the brush is quite effective at grabbing my lashes.  It certainly lifts them and makes my eyes look wide open. But as my eyelashes are VERY straight, I don’t get the curl effect. That doesn’t shock me though, I’ve yet to find a mascara which can curl my lashes on its own – I can’t live without an eyelash curler!

It also lengthens my lashes well but doesn’t give masses of volume, which is a shame but you can’t have it all, I suppose! It is a nice mascara that’s suitable for everyday wear but I probably wouldn’t reach for it on a night out when I want mega volume.

It’s definitely worth a try though, especially if your lashes can curl (sadly unlike mine!). Grab yourself a copy of ELLE and sample it for yourself.

Benefit Cosmetics’ Roller Lash is launching in March 2015 and will be retailing at £19.50.
