Urban Decay pressed powder

I only started using pressed powder a few months ago. Where have I been?! I can’t believe that it’s taken me this long to include it in my make-up routine!

To be honest, I’ve always been hesitant to try pressed powder because I thought that it would make me look cakey and pale. But that couldn’t be further from the truth providing that you choose a good quality powder.

I’ve been using Urban Decay’s Ultra Definition Pressed Finishing Powder in Medium Light which has a luminous, demi-matte finish that blends flawlessly to set my base and give natural-looking coverage.

The paraben-free powder is virtually invisible on my skin and doesn’t look heavy – I’d have to use A LOT before it started to look anywhere near chalky or cakey. It also has a lovely silky texture which feels weightless and doesn’t change the colour of my foundation either.

I don’t have oily skin so I can’t comment its ability to control shine but I can tell you how well it keeps my make-up in place. Once I apply the powder, I don’t have to reapply my make-up all day! My mascara used to smudge under my eyes after a few hours but now I dust this powder after I apply concealer and I don’t get smudges at all!

The powder is also ideal for minimising imperfections. I wouldn’t go as far to say it makes my skin look airbrushed but it does create a flattering soft-focus effect. It helps me look more radiant!

And did I mention that the packaging is gorgeous? The gunmetal compact is a nice size and features the powder and a mirror in the top compartment with a sponge in the compartment underneath. I prefer a powder brush to apply but the sponge is great for emergencies or travel.

What pressed powder do you use? Let me know what you like about it!
