Everyone knows that a good pair of jeans are a wardrobe staple but what about a denim shirt?
Not only do they go with everything but they can be worn all year round and never look dated.
They can also be worn in several ways. For example:
1. Buttons done up and sleeves down – the classic!
2. Worn undone like a jacket, ideal for summer when there’s no need for a proper jacket
3. Tied around the waist for a street style edge
4. Buttons done up and sleeves rolled up for a hint of casual cool.
5. On its own with jeans or shorts
6. Over a top
7. Layered under a dress or jumper
8. As an alternative beach cover up, forget the kimonos and sarongs!
Personally, I like to wear mine as a jacket with a grey marl t-shirt and skinny black jeans or tucked into a skirt with the sleeves rolled up.
Here’s a recent look featuring one of my favourite denim shirts (I have a few!). This particular shirt is made from a thick denim so feels quite sturdy and would be great in the cooler months.
Luckily, it works for summer too when teamed with a skirt. I fell in love with the matte leather and the rich tan colour of this style. I think that it pairs well with the indigo blue denim. It reminds me a bit of 70s fashion – in a good way! I also like the buttoned wrap front.
And how cute is this snakeskin body bag? It suits denim so well and is the perfect size for when you don’t want to take a huge handbag but need something big enough for plenty of bits and pieces. The compartments are surprisingly spacious!
How would you style a denim shirt? Do you have one (or more) like me?
