Fancy florals; the River Island embroidered denim skirt

I know this look is a bit summery but it was shot in September when the weather was warmer and I love the skirt too much not to feature it on the blog! Besides that, I’m not quite ready to start posting about big coats and hats yet.

Skirt, River Island. Belt, Aldo. T-shirt, Marks and Spencer.

It went down really well on Instagram with lots of people commenting on it and asking where I got from. River Island even re-posted one of the pictures on their own Instagram page, which is always a lovely compliment.

Limited Edition

This season, I’ve fallen head over heels for embroidery so when I spotted this amazing denim skirt in store, I knew it would end up in my skirt collection. How could it not? It’s just so pretty! It’s also limited addition so all the more reason to snap it up!

Embroidered details

First of all, I love the details. The front looks gorgeous with the flowers and the ‘LOVE’ lettering. I also quite like the dark wash denim and the A-line shape. I’ve worn it here with a fitted white t-shirt but I’d team it with black or grey too.

And let’s not forget the back of the skirt! It’s probably what convinced me to buy it as I love charming touches like this. A great reminder to appreciate the everyday and that life is beautiful. A bit cheesy for some, but I think it’s cute!

As there’s lots going on with the embroidery, I’m happy to keep the top half simple. Although, I’m not afraid to mix up patterns now and then! But for this look, I thought I’d keep the focus on the denim skirt.

It’s not just a skirt for the summer months either. When it gets colder, I’d swap the tee for a roll neck or chunky jumper and throw on a pair of tights for extra warmth. I usually pair it with grey suede boots but black, tan or nude wouldn’t look out of place either.
