I’ve been telling myself that I need to get new glasses for ages. It’s one of those things that I’ve been meaning to do but never got around to it. Until a couple of weeks ago. I think I was sick of hearing myself say; “Ooh I really need new specs”.
So after ten years of being faithful to Chanel, I joined the Gucci gang and treated myself to a new pair of glasses and sunglasses. My last pair of Chanel specs were really dainty (almost flimsy) with dark frames so I went for something bigger and more sturdy this time.
Tortoiseshell are my favourite colour frames as they’re less harsh than black for every day wear. I love the bumble bee and iconic “G” logo too. I’ve always had a soft spot for the designer because my dad bought me a Gucci watch my 18th birthday. He used to say G for Georgia, G for Gucci. How cute is that?! Bless you, Papa Hathaway!
Ideally, I would have liked the sunglasses to be a bit smaller but this particular pair suited me the most. I tried on so many styles! I used to buy high street sunnies so I could have lots of different pairs for different outfits. But now, I feel like having one classic style suits that suits all.
I also tried contact lenses for the first time and oh my, what a game changer! I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to give them a go. Originally, I just wanted them for social occasions but I can imagine myself wearing them at weekends and even when I fancy having a break from specs. I totally recommend them!
So, that’s my latest designer splurge. But since glasses are essentials, that means I can treat myself again soon right?!
