How I stay positive even when I don’t feel like it

For me, positivity is absolutely key. In fact, I don’t know how I’d get through life without it. Over the last few years, I’ve experienced a lot and the only thing that has kept me going is believing that things will get better. And they did. But that’s not to say, I don’t come across obstacles now. I  certainly do. However, I’ve learned so many lessons, that I know how to deal with whatever comes my way.

How to stay positive

How do I stay positive? Basically, I try to be optimistic even in a negative situation. Sometimes it can be difficult, especially if I’m feeling upset or annoyed. But if I can find one good thing, then it’s not all bad. For example, if someone hasn’t been very nice to me for whatever reason, I just rise above it and focus on fact that I wouldn’t treat someone with such disrespect. Rule #1;  Don’t let anyone get you down!

Also, I try and make my environment as positive as possible. Again, this can be tricky as I can’t always escape negative friends, colleagues or people I see on a daily basis. So instead, I create my own positive space by going to the gym, being organised, eating well, reading motivational books, watching uplifting videos and following influencers/bloggers who inspire me.

Speaking of eating well, looking after myself really helps my mood. I feel 100% better when I include lots of fruit, vegetables and plant-based protein in my diet. Additionally, I feel amazing when I work out 3-5 times a week. Exercising regularly has been one of the best habits I’ve had, EVER. I’m extremely grateful for fitness!

The other thing I do to stay positive is to help other people where possible. It doesn’t have to put my day on hold – it can be something really simple as treating my mum to lunch, listening to a friend’s problems or offering a lift to a colleague who doesn’t drive. If I can help someone and lift their spirits,  I will.
