ASOS patchwork skirt and Zara denim shirt

It was Phil’s 26th birthday last week so we spent the day and night in London before heading to Belgium and Amsterdam for the weekend.

In London, we had a foodie day and ate in Shake Shack, Camino Bankside and Byron Burger (reviews coming soon!) before going for cocktails in Megaro Bar and staying at Megaro Hotel in Kings Cross.

Fortunately, the weather was pleasant so I wore this ASOS patchwork skirt and Zara denim shirt combo, teamed with beige River Island open toe boots.

I’m loving suede at the moment so the skirt really caught my eye, especially with the patchwork design. Although tan suede is chic, I’ve seen loads of it around so I went for the colourful style. I think the colours would be perfect for the Autumn season but it’s still not stopping me from wearing it now.

The denim shirt is one of my wardrobe staples and I chose the indigo blue style because it will look good all year round. If you don’t have a denim shirt, you need one ASAP.

You can throw it over dresses to add an effortless edge, wear it buttoned up and tucked into skirts like I’ve done here, roll up the sleeves and wear over a top for simple layering. I like to wear mine with skinny ripped jeans and over a stripe tee with Converse for a super casual but cool look.

This outfit is ideal for that awkward weather where it’s grey, cloudy and warm but not exactly shorts and t-shirt weather. Typical British summertime then.

I’ve had several positive comments on the skirt but what do you think about the overall look? Would you wear it yourself? Let me know, it would be great to hear your thoughts!

I said it on Twitter and I’ll say it again – BEAUT! I love the way the whole outfit works together, so effortless but chic (yes I did just say chic, forgive me).

I’ll forgive you this time Claire – I often find myself writing chic for want of a better word! Thank you so much for the kind words, glad you like the look! :)

Hi Maria! Thanks for your comment. The skirt I’m wearing is also a UK size 6. Sometimes I find ASOS skirts too roomy on the waist but this particular style was okay – I think the tie belt helped! Georgia :)
