When it comes to make-up, I prefer a more natural look. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve worn fake lashes, fake nails and overdone the fake-tan in the past but ultimately, I look my best when I keep things simple. Mascara, basic manicures and subtle (ish) tan are my style.
But that’s not to say I’m against the “fake” look. I’m all for wearing what makes you feel good about yourself. But that look just doesn’t suit me. As I’ve got older, I’ve learned to embrace my features and be happy with what I have. Personally, I find it easier to enhance my existing appearance rather than trying to create something I don’t have.
Apart from the odd blemish, my face is pretty clear. I make the most of it with a good base, which includes foundation and a touch of bronzer/blusher to warm up my complexion. I’ve always had dark circles under my eyes but as long as I use a decent concealer, I don’t worry about them. No amount of sleep gets rid of them so they can’t be helped!
For my eyes, I use neutral eye shadows and smudge a soft grey or black shadow into my lash line for definition. I used to apply eyebrow pencil to get that big brow look but I have no idea why because I have thick eyebrows anyway. Now, I leave them alone and it’s one of the best things I’ve done! To finish, I apply a couple of coats of mascara. My lashes are long so they don’t need lengthening, just a bit of volume.
Since my lips are small, I go for nudes and pinks over dark shades and heavy outlines. And instead of faking bigger lips, I draw attention to my teeth instead. I didn’t wear braces as a teenager for nothing! You’ll rarely see me pouting either – it works for some girls but not for me. It’s nice to see the pearly whites!
