Admittedly, I haven’t bought many clothes this year because I’ve become more conscious about the planet and making a difference to the environment. Any new additions to my wardrobe have either been charity shop finds or items that have been kindly sent to me through blogging. On a side note, I wear both new and second hand items with pride – I think the snobbish attitude that some people have when it comes to fashion has to change.
When it comes to collaborations with clothing brands, I am very fussy. I won’t accept clothes for the sake of free stuff. I only accept if I would genuinely wear the clothes in ‘real life’ and not just for a promotional photo. I would also like to add that I’m not the sort of person who wears clothes a couple of times then throws away. I literally wear all my clothes to death, then I donate to charity or family members.
I’ve collaborated with a few fantastic brands this year and the latest one is Femme Luxe Finery. I will be honest, I wouldn’t normally consider Femme Luxe to be my usual style but I was pleasantly surprised when I browsed their new in section recently. While there are some items that wouldn’t suit me, I’ve chosen four items which I feel are wearable, practical and suitable.
Casual glam
First up are the Mid Wash Distressed Ripped Mom Jeans. After wearing skinny jeans for most of my adult life, I’m so pleased that loose jeans that back in fashion. Personally, I think they’re more stylish than skin tight denim and perfect with a pair of heels. Here I’m teamed them with a cute halter top and a swishy high ponytail for a casual summer night out look. Not are the jeans comfortable, they’re also practical and will see me right through to the colder months. I’m looking forward to wearing them with boots and a leather jacket come Autumn time.
Back to black
Next is the Black Polka Dot Mesh Overlay Bodysuit. Basically, I had this in mind when occasions where I don’t want to wear a dress but still want to look like I’ve made an effort. You can’t go wrong with a smart black top, especially with plain black trousers. I love this bodysuit because it comes with a vest and the mesh overlay – almost two tops in one! I can see me reaching for this a lot, particularly for dinner dates or after work drinks (make mine a lime & tonic!) on a Friday night. I need to dig out a glitzy necklace for some extra pizzazz. Although the leopard print shoes do jazz it up nicely without being too OTT.
The new neutral
I couldn’t not pick a dress to add to my collection! As soon as I saw the One Shoulder Ruched Slinky Midi Dress, I knew I had to have it. I picked the beige colour for a change even though the black was tempting. Although the other colours are gorgeous too, I’d love to try the brown. This dress would be absolutely perfect for a special occasion – a wedding party or a glam night out. I’ll be 30 in September so it would definitely be a contender for my birthday outfit. It’s really flattering, classy and just the right amount of slinkiness. A sophisticated little number! Killer heels and earrings essential.
Unleash the wild side
Finally, I chose the White Snake Print High Neck Bodysuit because I loved the print, colour and the style. Long sleeves and a high neck are always a winner with me because I always feel the chill, even in summer! The material is also lovely, it feels really good quality. Again, I’d pair it with sleek black trousers or jeans. But I can’t wait to wear it with faux leather trousers and a faux fur gilet in the winter. It’s around this time that I start to think ahead to my winter wardrobe and this certainly wouldn’t be out of place during the colder months. In the meantime, I’ll be donning it to a friend’s birthday dinner this Saturday night.
Thank you Femme Luxe for these pieces! What’s your favourite look out of them all? I can’t decide!
