ASOS white skirt and Zara stripe top

What I love about monochrome is that it suits all weather. It looks just as clean and fresh in the sunshine as it does in when it’s miserable outside.

Just as well really, as it was both beautifully sunny and terribly rainy when I wore this outfit in Brussels recently.

Fortunately, I managed to sneak a picture before it started lashing down. What do you think?

I wouldn’t normally wear a white skirt as I’m a bit of a mucky pup but I couldn’t resist this ASOS number! I think the fact that it’s denim makes it so much more wearable than any other fabric.

The A-line cut looks smarter than a regular mini skirt shape and the buttons add some modern detailing. It was only £26 too, which is quite reasonable. I’m planning to get my wear out of it in the Autumn months by teaming it with a fine-knit black sweater and chunky heeled ankle boots for an understated but edgy look.

Here, I’ve paired the skirt with an oldie but a goodie – my trusty Zara black and white stripe top. It’s the perfect piece for creating a minimalistic and simple outfit. I’ve built up a selection of Zara striped tops in different colourways now because they’re just so easy to wear and make an ideal wardrobe staple.

I’ve featured these River Island white sandals on the blog before but I love them so much that you’ll probably see them a few times more before the summer is out! They’re super comfortable to wear – it’s lovely to be able to wear a heel all day long without feeling like my feet are going to fall off! Ah, the beauty of a flatform. I can’t wait to wear them in Ibiza to give me some height instead of the usual flat sandals!
