Autumn/winter colours by Revlon

Adjusting the contents of my make-up bag is another aspect of autumn/winter that I love. Nail polishes get darker and lips get deeper!

As much as I like bright nails in the summer, I prefer dark nails as they look much more elegant and sophisticated. My go-to look is glossy black nails with lightly tanned hands – simple but chic!

Revlon have gorgeous colours for A/W!

However, I do like a change from black nails so I’ve been trying out a couple of new shades from the Revlon ColorStay Gel Envy Longwear Nail Enamel collection. The polishes combine base coat and colour in one convenient formula, which is great if you leave your nails to the last minute, like me!

I tried Hold ‘Em, a pretty mauve colour and Ace of Spades, a gorgeous charcoal grey. Both polishes provided brilliant colour after 2 coats, gel-shine and long-lasting wear. The shine faded after two days so if you like a super glossy effect, I’d recommend applying a top coat.

When it comes to lips, I either use lip balm or lipstick so the Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm really appealed to me as it’s a bit of both.

This innovative chubby lip pencil takes your look from day to night with a velvety matte finish, infused with balm-like moisture. Perfect if you can’t go anywhere without lip balm but like to add some colour.

They’re also handy for nights out when you haven’t got enough room in your clutch for loads of products. I was sent the colours Passionate (hot pink), Standout (red), Shameless (purple) and Coy (bronze) but my favourite was the Standout – I just dab a bit on and blend in for a subtle red lip rather than a full-on pillarbox pout.

I also tried the Super Lustrous Lipstick in Seductive Sienna which was a nice pinky brown shade and ideal for glam nights out.

Do you wear Revlon? What are your favourite products?

Ahh Revlon is my definite favourite high street brand! Those nail colours are so appealing to me… Although I’m trying to talk myself out of Hold ‘Em because it looks quite similar to Essie’s A Splash of Grenadine. I’ve got such a bad habit of stocking up of 100’s of things in the same colour!

Revlon are great, aren’t they! Lovely range of colours, good formulas and everything is reasonably priced. You are right, it does look similar to Essie’s Grenadine but I think that it is slightly more pink than Hold ‘Em. I’m the same with clothes, you can never have too many black dresses or black boots!
