River Island red and black checked shirt

I thought that I’d post one of my more casual outfits today as my last outfit post was full of glitz!

In my opinion, you can never have too many leather or leather-look jackets and I just had to snap up this gorgeous style from River Island. I loved the faux fur collar and the fact that it’s detachable so you get two looks for the price of one!

The jacket also has a belted front but I’m wearing it undone here – I’m a big fan of the ‘I just threw this on’ feel. When I want to look more polished, I can see me fastening the belt and teaming with cigarette trousers, a black roll neck jumper and slinky heels for an easy night out look.

This River Island longline shirt is perfect for off-duty days when I can’t be bothered to spend ages rifling through my wardrobe. It’s my go-to piece when I’m in a hurry or when I want to get on with my day rather than worrying about what to wear.

The fabric is super soft and the regular fit is really comfortable. I don’t think the shirt would look as good if it was tight-fitting but I’m glad that it’s not too loose either. I don’t suit baggy clothes at all! The tie-belt helps to create a flattering silhouette and define my waist.

I’ve worn the shirt as a dress here with a pair of tights but it also looks amazing with black skinny jeans and chunky boots. For an edgy but effortless vibe, I’d wear the shirt as an open jacket with a vintage rock band tee underneath and ripped jeans. Such a great combo!

Would you wear the shirt as a dress like I’ve done? Let me know what you think of this look!
