Mercure Cardiff Holland House Hotel and Spa

Last week, I was lucky enough to visit Mercure Cardiff Holland House Hotel and Spa to try the new treatment and product range by Comfort Zone. Having spa treatments is fast becoming my favourite way to relax so the visit was just the thing I needed after a busy week in work.

The Mercure spa itself is chic and modern. It boasts tranquil treatment rooms, an 18m indoor pool and a fully equipped gym, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and relaxation lounge. On arrival, I met the lovely spa manager Hannah and was given a robe, slippers and towel to get me ready for pampering.

Comfort Zone are the latest brand of treatments to the spa menu. I hadn’t heard of them before but I loved the fact that their products were free from parabens, silicones and artificial colours but still delivered great results.

Peaceful and pretty!

My therapist Natalie was great – personable yet professional. She began with a body massage using warmed Himalayan salt stones, which had a wonderful soothing effect. The treatment continued with an uplifting salt scrub using Himalayan Salt and a nourishing oil to detoxify the body. I usually feel lethargic after a massage but this time, I felt rejuvenated and revitalised.

Next, I had a facial which involved thorough cleansing, mask application, massaging and aromatic oils to finish. Afterwards, my skin looked fresh and vibrant with a dewy glow. If the evening had stopped there, I wouldn’t have bothered to put any make-up on – my face was radiant!

After the treatments, it was time for dinner with the other media professionals. The restaurant had recently been refurbished so we got see the stunning décor while sampling the delicious new menu. We also had the chance to take part in a wine tasting session while trying a selection of starters, which was a nice surprise.

For the main course, I went for the sea bream which was beautifully cooked and well presented. Then, we got to sample a few of the desserts which went down a treat. I tried the cheesecake, lemon and thyme panna cotta and poached pear. I enjoyed them all but the lemon and thyme panna cotta was particularly refreshing after the main course!

To complete the Mercure experience, I had the opportunity to stay at the hotel. My room was fantastic – bright, airy and spacious with a huge bed and fantastic views across the city centre. The bathroom had a big shower and an even bigger bathtub complete with plenty of complementary toiletries. The room also came with a desk, seating area, flat screen TV and two double wardrobes. I even had a welcome letter and luxury Decleor goodies from the front of house manager Ben, which was a thoughtful touch. Thank you!

Overall, my experience at the Mercure Cardiff Holland House was nothing short of spectacular. I was really impressed with the Comfort Zone treatments and the spa was one of the most luxurious I’ve been to. The staff were friendly and exceptionally helpful from the front of house members to the therapists to the restaurant staff. I can’t recommend the Mercure Hotel experience enough. When can I go back?!
