Karen Millen stripes and broderie dress

With summer in full swing, I’m embracing dresses as much as I can! They’re easy to throw on and look so effortless. I don’t have to worry about co-ordinating tops with trousers or skirts. I can just pick a dress and go. Plus, I love getting my legs out in warm weather – they’re covered up all winter so it’s nice to let them out in the summer!

As you might know, I have a serious obsession with monochrome outfits. It’s such a simple way of dressing and I never get tired of how it looks. Here, I’ve styled a stripe and broderie mini dress from Karen Millen. I love it because it’s simple but smart and chic.

I think that it’s really versatile too. I could wear it to work, shopping, for lunch with the girls and an evening out with my boyfriend. It could also work with a variety of shoe options – heels, wedges and flats. I’d even wear it with trainers if I wanted to look super casual.

Tan gives and black and white a subtle lift

For this look, I stuck to heels. They’re basic courts which I’ve had for years but are still going strong! I went for a tan handbag to lift the outfit. I quite like tan accessories with monochrome – they add a bit of colour without detracting too much from the black and white. Besides, it’s good to have a change from my everyday black handbag.

I’ve put light waves in my hair using a curling wand to give it some bounce. My natural hair is poker straight and tends to lie flat unless I blow-dry it properly or put curls in it. I cannot stand flat and lifeless hair, I’m forever shaking and flicking mine to get some movement! I need to invest in one of those backcombing brushes for my roots.

What do you think of this look? Let me know!
