Styling a full lace skirt with Coast Stores

When I first tried this beautiful lace skirt on, I spent a good 20 minutes in the fitting room debating whether it suited me or not. I think it’s because I’ve never gone for a full-skirt before. I always assume that they will swamp my small frame and make me look frumpy.

Despite my assumptions, I couldn’t resist buying it and I’m so glad that I did! I don’t think that it swamps me or looks frumpy at all. In fact, I love the fit and flare shape. It’s not too “pouffy” and creates a lovely silhouette. I also like that the waistband sits high and nips in at my waist for a flattering look. There’s something quite Carrie Bradshaw about it, which I like. Who doesn’t love a SATC kinda vibe?! Carrie looked amazing…most of the time.

Besides the shape, I also love the nude underlay and black embroidered lace. A timeless and classic combination. I can’t see it looking dated anytime soon, I can imagine wearing it in years to come and calling it my little vintage gem. How long does it take before a piece becomes vintage, I wonder?!

Anyway, I’ve teamed the skirt with a basic black Zara vest here but for a special occasion like a wedding or party, I’d go for a top in blush or cream shades that’s a bit smarter than a vest! Having said that, I do think that a vest balances out the outfit because the skirt is busy. Sometimes it’s nice to keep things simple!

Same goes with the bag, I’d just choose a really simple clutch bag. This small boxy style from Precis Petite is also great for keeping the look balanced as its not an overwhelming size. Just enough for my phone and lipstick!

Would you wear this skirt? How would you wear it? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
