The signature facial at Ener-chi Radyr

The fabulous ladies at Ener-chi spoiled me again on Tuesday. This time, me and Phil were invited to have the signature facial each at the salon in Radyr.

I’ve always looked after my skin but when I turned 25 in September, I became more conscious that I would have to do more than cleansing, toning and moisturising and the odd exfoliation. I knew the facial at Ener-chi would be a great way to kick start regular facial treatments and keep my skin glowing during the dull winter months.

Like the Penarth salon, the interior is bright and modern with luxurious products as far as the eye could see. There were plenty of gift packages available to suit everyone and for all occasions – including Christmas! So be sure to call in if you’re in the area, I would love some of their treats under my tree this year.

Phil and I were led up to the treatment room upstairs by therapists Leah and Jade, who were both really friendly and welcoming. The room was peaceful and calming with music softly playing in the background. It was tastefully decorated with splashes of red and scented candles.

Leah and Jade had a consultation with us both. The facial is tailored is suit individual needs so it was an important part of the process to talk to us about our skin and what we wanted to get out of the facial. I wanted brighter and radiant skin while Phil preferred to have a more clearing and detoxifying treatment.

My therapist was Leah and Phil’s was Jade. We both had the same products used on us with a few alterations so I will talk about the varying products as the review goes on.

To start, Leah massaged Eminence Coconut Milk Cleanser into my face with her fingertips. It left my skin perfectly cleansed and feeling hydrated. Not to mention that it smelled absolutely divine! Jade applied the same cleanser on Phil and he said on how soft his face felt afterwards. He also commented on how soothing it was and how his skin felt balanced – not dry and not oily.

After cleansing, Leah spritzed Eminence Stone Crop Hydrating Mist onto my skin. Again, the scent was heavenly. It was a refreshing addition to the facial, my skin felt nourished and toned. I managed to sneak a peek at Phil after he was misted and his complexion looked clear and vibrant. Great results already and we had barely begun our treatment!

Next, it was time to be exfoliated. We both had the Eminence Strawberry Rhubarb Dermafoliant applied which is suitable for all skin types. With key ingredients such as strawberry, rhubarb and oats, it proved a difficult task not to lick my own cheeks as it smelled incredible! I’m a sucker for anything rhubarb. My skin felt gently polished and refined while Phil noticed that his face felt smooth and supple. Result.

Then it was time for our mask. And not just any old mask, Glamglow ones! I’ve read a lot of positive reviews about Glamglow and have been eager to try the brand for a while. It’s won numerous beauty industry awards and claims to be a “facial in a jar”.

While our masks were left on for 10-15 minutes, we enjoyed a massage each. Leah gave me a lovely foot massage, using L’Occitane lotion. I try to use a foot lotion as often as I can but I do a lot of cardio so it felt nice to give my feet some extra TLC. Meanwhile, Phil had an arm massage, which helped relax his muscles after a gym session the day before.

After that, our masks were removed carefully with a damp cloth. My mask felt slightly tingly on but not in an irritating way. Afterwards, my face looked visibly brighter with a tighter texture. I was also impressed with the results of Phil’s mud mask. He hardly ever gets spots but is prone to blackheads on his nose. The mask did an excellent job of de-clogging his pores and renewing its complexion. The pores on his nose appeared much clearer too. Wow!

Following the mask, Leah applied a thin layer of the Eminence Stone Crop Serum, which supplies vitamins and nutrients to the skin and provides antioxidant protection against damaging free radicals. It also reduces pigmentation in the skin for a healthy, uniform complexion. Phil had the same serum and said that it made his face feel like silk.

To conclude, my face felt utterly cleansed and revitalised. I looked like I had about 10 hours sleep the night before when the truth was that I’d had about six. Phil’s complexion looked fantastic too – clear, smooth and soft with reduced blackheads.

A huge thank you to our wonderful therapists Leah and Jade for pampering us and thank you Ener-chi for spoiling me once more!
