Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani

I’ve been sent a couple of packages from the lovely team at Urban Decay recently and one of them was the limited edition Gwen Stefani eyeshadow palette.

I remember listening to No Doubt and Gwen’s solo album as a teenager so the palette brought back some great memories of me trying to achieve Gwen’s make-up looks. Hopefully my efforts will be better this time around!

The palette contains 15 must-have shades of eyeshadow – 12 are new and three are from the UD shadow collection.

There is a fantastic range of neutral shades and a few jewel tones to mix things up. There’s also a matte black (Blackout) which is perfect for a smoky eye look.

Each eyeshadow in the palette features UD’s Pigment Infusion System, the blend of ingredients that gives every shade its velvety texture, rich colour, serious staying power and blendability.

My favourite shades are:

  • Blonde, pale beige with pink iridescent
  • Steady (after the no doubt album “Rock Steady”), medium rose with metallic gold
  • Anaheim (where Gwen grew up), light taupe-brown matte
  • Zone (after the song “Danger Zone”), medium brown matte

Besides the variety of shades, I also love the packaging. Gwen collaborated with UD on every detail on the palette – right down to the case, which was inspired by her love of black and white graphic print with antique gold accents.

Gwen picked most of the shade names which were inspired by her songs. There’s also a nod to the No Doubt song “Magic’s in the Makeup” on the palette’s huge mirror.

Overall, it’s an ideal palette if you like a natural or smoky look or even a pop of bright and fun colour on your eyes. A wonderful gift for any make-up fanatic!
