Why I love wearing black

I’ve been obsessed with wearing black for a long time. Don’t get me wrong, I do wear other colours occasionally and I don’t look morbid 24/7 but I’d say my wardrobe is 90% black. And I wouldn’t have it any other way. Here’s why:

Black skinny jeans

  1. It complements my skin tone whether I’m sporting my natural milky (pasty) hue or if I’m tanned and glowing after a St Tropez session.
  2. Whenever I don’t know what to wear, black is a fail safe option.
  3. Black leather. Say no more!
  4. It always looks chic. Even if I was wearing jeans and trainers, I’d still feel ‘pulled together’ if they were black.
  5. Black works for every season. I can’t think of any other colour which looks stylish all year round, whatever the weather.
  6. Its figure-flattering. Plus, it makes me feel more confident, sassy and like I’ve got my life in order even if I haven’t.
  7. It doesn’t matter if I accidentally spill coffee down myself when wearing black because it totally camouflages stains. Glamorous, I know.
  8. Black is timeless. When I look at old photos of myself, I cringe at the bright, patterned ‘trendy’ outfits I’ve worn in the past but I never look back at my all-black outfits and regret them because they don’t look dated.
  9. High-end or high-street? With black, it could be either! It’s harder to tell.
  10. Black outfits makes getting ready for the day so much easier. No worrying about matching, co-ordinating or what to wear to a certain occasion.
  11. It always looks effortless. I’d hate to look like I’ve spent days/weeks/months planning an outfit; it’s too try-hard for me! I’m all about the “I’ve just thrown this on” kind of vibe.
  12. Black suits all kinds of accessories whether you want to keep it basic with understated jewellery or bold with statement pieces.

Yasssss! Couldn’t agree more. I kind of made a goal to stick to neutrals this year… I have so many coloured items I rarely wear. Black is so sexy.
Speaking of St. Tropez, is it as easy as it seems? I suck at self tanner.

So glad you agree Liz! That’s a great idea with the neutrals. I hardly ever wear my “colour” clothes either because I’m never in the mood to wear them. I’m always in the mood for black! I think St Tropez is easy to apply as long as you get the mousse and use a mitt. It goes on brown so you know exactly where to apply/areas you’ve missed. Thank you for reading! :)
