I’ve been obsessed with wearing black for a long time. Don’t get me wrong, I do wear other colours occasionally and I don’t look morbid 24/7 but I’d say my wardrobe is 90% black. And I wouldn’t have it any other way. Here’s why:
- It complements my skin tone whether I’m sporting my natural milky (pasty) hue or if I’m tanned and glowing after a St Tropez session.
- Whenever I don’t know what to wear, black is a fail safe option.
- Black leather. Say no more!
- It always looks chic. Even if I was wearing jeans and trainers, I’d still feel ‘pulled together’ if they were black.
- Black works for every season. I can’t think of any other colour which looks stylish all year round, whatever the weather.
- Its figure-flattering. Plus, it makes me feel more confident, sassy and like I’ve got my life in order even if I haven’t.
- It doesn’t matter if I accidentally spill coffee down myself when wearing black because it totally camouflages stains. Glamorous, I know.
- Black is timeless. When I look at old photos of myself, I cringe at the bright, patterned ‘trendy’ outfits I’ve worn in the past but I never look back at my all-black outfits and regret them because they don’t look dated.
- High-end or high-street? With black, it could be either! It’s harder to tell.
- Black outfits makes getting ready for the day so much easier. No worrying about matching, co-ordinating or what to wear to a certain occasion.
- It always looks effortless. I’d hate to look like I’ve spent days/weeks/months planning an outfit; it’s too try-hard for me! I’m all about the “I’ve just thrown this on” kind of vibe.
- Black suits all kinds of accessories whether you want to keep it basic with understated jewellery or bold with statement pieces.
All I wear is black aswell! Loved this post, I really need to start putting more colour in my wardrobe.

Glad you liked the post Megan! I can’t help but wear black – it’s a die-hard habit of mine! Thank you for reading :)
Yasssss! Couldn’t agree more. I kind of made a goal to stick to neutrals this year… I have so many coloured items I rarely wear. Black is so sexy.
Speaking of St. Tropez, is it as easy as it seems? I suck at self tanner.

So glad you agree Liz! That’s a great idea with the neutrals. I hardly ever wear my “colour” clothes either because I’m never in the mood to wear them. I’m always in the mood for black! I think St Tropez is easy to apply as long as you get the mousse and use a mitt. It goes on brown so you know exactly where to apply/areas you’ve missed. Thank you for reading! :)
