Why I love wearing high heels

Apart from trainers for the gym & slippers around the house, I hate flat shoes. I’ve really tried to like them over the years and convince myself that I can pull them off. Or at least get used to wearing them. But in reality, they’re just not me.

White roses and high heels
Roses and cute shoes, I’ll take both!

I’m happiest in heels. They make me feel like I could take on the world. Like I can handle whatever is thrown at me. I feel confident, empowered and like I’ve got myself together. Even if I wake up feeling like crap, I put my heels (and lipstick) on and all is right again.

Plus, they make me taller. And at 5ft 1, I’m not going to say no to a few extra inches. As a petite gal, heels make me feel more authoritative, especially in work and amongst friends. Most people tower over me anyway but with high shoes, I feel slightly more level with everyone.

I don’t particularly mind being petite but sometimes it’s nice to be just that little bit taller. For example, they’re an absolute blessing in concerts. If I didn’t wear heels, I would be staring at the backs of peoples heads all night! I could never wear flats on a night out either. I just wouldn’t feel sassy!

Heels also change my posture. I stand straighter and strut into the room rather than plod along. You can hear me coming! They even make my legs look longer and leaner. I’ve also heard that they can tone your leg muscles. Yes please!

I feel frumpy and childish in flat shoes. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think flat shoes are childish but they certainly make me feel that way. I get enough “You look SO young/I thought you were 16/Wow you’re tiny” comments as it is, so wearing flats wouldn’t help my case.

So that’s why I love heels. The higher, the better! Are you a flats or heels person?

I so wish I could wear heels but I’m useless in them. I’m strictly a flats and converse kind of girl.

I definitely agree with confidence boost I get from wearing heels. I much prefer wearing heels too, but often go for a chunkier one in the time for easiness to walk in.
