Why I’m saying NO to January blues this year

I can understand why people hate January. It’s cold and grey, the holidays are long gone and summer feels like a lifetime away. Most people are feeling the pinch after Christmas and are tired/run-down from the festivities.

Why I'm saying no to January blues
Dress, Missguided. Shoes, Ego.

Normally, I’m one of those people. But this year, I’ve decided to embrace January rather than hate it. As you might have read from a previous post, I’m heading into 2017 with a positive attitude so why not practice what I preach and start from January?

Rather than thinking that January is all doom and gloom, I’m concentrating on the good things instead. E.g. a bright year ahead, full of hope and prosperity! I’m hoping for an amazing year so getting January off to a decent start is filling me with excitement.

Okay, there might not be much going on right now but the fact that it’s a quiet month gives me the opportunity to focus on work. It also gives me a chance catch up on sleep, curl up with a book and generally take care of myself.

And it’s been great so far. I’ve had a clearer head when it comes to blogging, face masks galore, lots of early nights (with new pyjamas!) and got back into reading again. I’ve also been making the gym a major priority and going at least 3-4 times a week. Not to lose weight but to make me feel good.

For the first time in ages, I’ve felt a bit more in control. Since there’s not much going on, I can give my attention to things I’ve put on the back burner recently. Like early nights and getting those workouts in before 9am. Before this month, it had been a long time since I’ve had energy!

January, you’ve been fabulous to me. I hope the rest of 2017 follows suit. How has your month been? Anyone else found January bearable this year?
